Band identity, website design and materials for the family-owned Thai restaurant

About this Project

In 2015 new restaurant owners Benjamin Chanthanouvong and Somsangouan Phianesin reopened Lotus as Lotus Fine Thai Cuisine. Ben and Moun extended their hours for full week service, as well as expanded their dish offerings. Caol worked with them to rebrand the restaurant identity under their ownership, including in-shop materials and a new website.

The new logomark draws inspiration from the original design the previous owners used. The new logo uses a custom lotus flower illustration arranged above the Lotus text with increased negative space for definition. The Lotus text uses Futura, a highly geometric sans serif typeface that brings clarity to the design.

Ben and Moun wanted their new website and in-shop print materials to use their new logomark, with minimalism and clarity in mind. The website design was kept minimal, with strong contrast that communicated the relaxed dining space. The new dining menu had many offerings, so the pages were divided into courses for easy navigation. Custom icons represent spicy, vegan, gluten-free dishes.
